Happy Birthday to Me!

This marked the first celebration of "milestone" birthdays for me. I spent the evening with close friends for dinner at the place to be, Sunda, in River North. The food is considered "new Asian" with flavors from Eastern and Southeast Asia. I first heard about Sunda from watching TLC's Food Buddha starring back then Sunda's Executive Chef Rodelio Agilbot back in early 2010. That's where I first heard the acronym of OOE (one of each) and started to throw that term around when I was excited to visiting new restaurants. I'm also proud that Sunda's menu includes some Filipino dishes like the Crispy Pata, fried pig knuckles and Pancit Canton; some off the menu items included Sisig. I'm very proud of my heritage and glad there's a restaurant like Sunda that highlights several Filipino dishes in a formal dining experience. And it doesn't help that the current executive chef is also Filipino :-) I've been back here several times already and the menu continues to change and that's what makes me wanting to come back. Here's what our dinner included: soup dumplings, sisig, crispy pata, lemongrass beef lollipops, pancit canton, spicy tuna roll, dragon roll, pork and duck steamed buns(not pictured). Dessert was sooo good. Ordered the famous Ridiculous. Enjoy!
